ABOUT VCIL COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP:
In recent years, one of VCIL Community’s efforts has been to create a monetary and economic system that strengthens human relationships and regenerates ecosystems. In this system, the ultimate goal is not infinite GDP growth but the common prosperity of both communities and ecosystems. The definition of wealth is expanded comprehensively: material sufficiency is paired with mental happiness and respect for the ecological limits of the planet. To realize this vision, VCIL Community has collected and studied regional models and told "a new story" about the economy while simultaneously conducting social experiments within the community. This is why the VCIL Community Membership was born: to connect like-minded individuals who resonate with the mission of creating a happy and sustainable society.
* Objectives
To build a sustainable social movement, we need "infrastructure" and ecosystems that can support and nurture these social initiatives. Therefore, VCIL Community Membership was established to realize this vision. There are two types of members in the VCIL Community Membership:
- Fee-contributing members.
- Members are the change-makers and social innovators that we focus on collaborating with and supporting.
Our events, gatherings, and online and offline conferences are platforms for individuals within the community to meet and connect with each other.
In addition, VCIL Community organizes exclusive training and learning programs for members. These include training on expanding mindsets (understanding sufficiency, decolonization, unschooling, etc.), alternative world ideas (cooperative models, religious reform, community-based financial models, etc.), or even skill development (e.g., financial skills, facilitation, conflict transformation, etc.). These platforms help individuals create positive social impacts within their capacity.
* Supporting VCIL Community in the Journey of Social Transformation
At VCIL Community, we aim to create valuable, practical, and accessible educational programs for everyone. We believe that financial barriers should not prevent anyone from seeking education. The operational model of VCIL Community is geared towards social impact, happiness, and environmental sustainability.
The VCIL Community Membership Fund helps us maintain affordable program costs. Income from monthly contributions helps us cover basic needs and operational costs of the core team. Therefore, we are not pressured to maximize profits from every program while ensuring the organization's functioning. With the principle of sufficiency, coordination fees can be adjusted according to participants' financial capacity, allowing us to prioritize social and environmental impacts without significant financial pressure.
Financial independence is also one of the core principles of VCIL Community's operations. This principle ensures long-term sustainability, freedom, and avoidance of conflicts of interest. VCIL Community's operations, therefore, remain independent and self-governed, without relying on grants from organizations or governments.
VCIL Community is still a grassroots initiative, born and nurtured to serve the community. VCIL Community Membership is a channel to gather social and community resources for the common good. The membership model provides us with a stable cash flow, reduces the budget for marketing, and makes financial forecasting easier. Additionally, this membership model aligns with the principle of diversifying income sources, helping us build a solid financial foundation that can withstand external shocks.
