Sabu Francis is an architect, software innovator, architecture theoretician and teacher from India. He graduated from IIT Kharagpur with an honors degree in Architecture in 1984. His work on computing in architecture started in 1987 onward -- and he came up with one of the first architecture design software in the world; which started off as an intelligent aid for designing in his own office. It is called TAD. See www.teamtad.com It is provably the world's first AI software in architecture design.
He discovered an interesting set of mathematical principles in architecture modelling and was awarded the JIIA Special award for research in architecture in 1991. The design software; TAD, uses those principles.
Over time, Sabu published several articles and papers in conferences and journals. He was the keynote speaker at two international conferences in India. His work was used in two research projects dealing with energy calculations; done in collaboration with IIT Bombay; along with Dr. J.K.Nayak of the Solar Cell of the Mechanical Engineering department.
He is the author of one book; "Designs on life" and has written many articles in magazines and journals. He has conducted several workshops on computing in architecture, critical thinking, design thinking and orientation courses for freshers in architecture and IT.
