About
"Hello and welcome to Yalla Hebrew! Hi, my name is Julia. I'm excited to share my approach to learning a new language with you. As someone who speaks three languages and is currently learning Spanish, I've gained valuable experience for learners at various levels. My native language is Russian, which I spoke exclusively until age 10. In first grade, I began learning English, and later moved to Israel, where I started learning Hebrew at age 10. After two years, I became fluent and now consider Hebrew my primary language, as it's easier for me than Russian. I also learned English in school, but my vocabulary and speech were compromised due to incorrect learning methods. At 32, I moved to the US and struggled to correct my mistakes. This experience taught me the importance of learning a language correctly from the start. My goal is to teach correct Hebrew, not just the scriptural language, but the everyday language spoken in Israel. This way, when you visit or meet native Israelis, you can effortlessly converse. Inspired by my Spanish learning journey, I developed a step-by-step approach: 1. Listen extensively 2. Repeat and practice pronunciation 3. Speak, which comes naturally with time To make learning Hebrew fun and engaging, I create: • Short videos for the entire Hebrew alphabet • Listening and repetition exercises • Interactive games to reinforce learning Learning a new language isn't easy or quick. You won't become fluent overnight, but with daily consistency, you'll see progress. Commit to: • 20 minutes a day: 5 minutes listening, 5 minutes reading, 5 minutes writing, and 5 minutes speaking Stay committed, and you'll improve and reach your goals. Remember, everyone learns at their own pace: • Some see progress after 2 weeks • Others after 2 months That's okay! Daily practice yields results. Join my community, Yalla Hebrew, to: • Learn to write each letter • Schedule appointments with me or groups • Access valuable resources My method: 1. Listen 2. Repeat 3. Record yourself speaking 4. Listen to yourself again Self-assessment helps identify areas for improvement.
