Do our individual actions make a difference ?
I was discussing this the other day with one of Zeru's colleages, and I was amazed how she and her husband offset the entire carbon footprint of their wedding.
I mean how amazing is that? I thought
But she felt that it was unfair and even lonely, imagining that they were the very few ones that are taking climate action seriously.
She argued, that companies and governments must do more. And guess what, she’s absolutely right.
Corporates, nations and even local councils must accelerate their climate ambitions, and more importantly, really act on it, and not stay drowning on empty promises.
But the discussion continued , and she offered that in a world that desperately needs systemic change to combat some of the most entrenched problems (like #climatechange) the most important thing is to start…
And this is the message that I want to share with you all this week. We can all start somewhere, it doesn’t matter where.
As frequently reminds us, we can all:
🎙️talk about sustainability, and discussing , learning from peers
👀 vote, and keep our politicians accountable
👷♀️work on climate or demand better climate disclosures and action from your employer
💵 vote with your money, choosing ethical brands.
🏦 transferring your money to green banks and making that your pension and investment don’t support fossil fuel expansion. Look at this (and we're lucky also to call our partners), making sure that that's the case, and calculating the footprint of your money seating there.
🥩reducing red meat consumption and dairy (look at this
✈️ flying less
🗿supporting carbon removal... Yessss that's us!
And a hugeeee etc
The importance is in just starting. Baby steps so gradually you become more sustainable, planetary aligned.
And find a group, a community that helps you go further in your climate journey. At ZeruEarth, we have some amazing plans to kickstart our collective.
Stay tuned and curious!
