Photo Guidelines for Place Watercolour Painting

The right photo makes all the difference. Aim for daylight shots that show your place clearly.

• Take a front-on photo from a distance that captures the full view and key features.
• Shoot in daylight with minimal shadows; avoid night or heavy overcast.
• Use a smartphone or camera for high resolution—300 DPI ideal in JPG or PNG format.
• Tidy visible areas like paths, yards or entrances if possible.
• Hide clutter, bins or distractions; no filters to keep colours true.
• Everything visible will appear in the painting—note changes in your order (e.g., simplify crowds or vehicles).
• For solo portraits: Choose a well-lit, eye-level photo with the face and neck clearly visible, natural lighting, and minimal shadows—old photos work beautifully.
• For pet portraits: Select a bright, eye-level photo with your pet’s face and neck clearly visible, with minimal shadows, and preferably looking at the camera (collars included unless noted).

Good examples: Full scene in daylight, neat surroundings, clear main subject, in JPG and PNG format within 10MB.
Avoid: Angles hiding the place, cluttered foregrounds, poor lighting. Avoid screenshots of images.

Note (Inclusions and exclusions):
a) This is a digital painting and the same will be delivered to you by email that is compatible with A4 size output compatible for printing.

b) There will be no call or session after you send us the image via the secure Google Form, the link to which you'd receive after booking this service.

c) This session booking is only for a quick review at my end to assess the image, so I can check if we can work with it or not. You will receive the actual painting via email after 6 to 7 days. This is not a live painting session.

d) Any human images submitted with more than 1 face will not be accepted. The same applies to pet portraits as well, where more than 1 pet in an image wouldn't be accepted.

e) You also can't get 1 human face and 1 pet together; it is either one of them that would be accepted.

d) We'll send you the finished digital painting via email once it is done.
