TAD is an easy, light weight architecture designing system. It is one of the oldest -- invented way before BIM. It started around 1989. A lot of architecture projects were done using TAD; including projects for Konkan Railway, Great Eastern Shipping, and many builders. TAD handles AIM (Architecture Information modelling) instead of BIM ... We believe BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a sub-set of AIM. BIM works efficiently once the design has got finalized. Some people think BIM can be used for all of the design stages -- but no. What architects truly need is AIM and not BIM -- the latter would be more useful for construction related engineers and architects. BIM comes in when you have already finalized the design. The file size and complications are just too heavy for BIM to handle the iterations of designing. Architecture is designed by going to-and-fro checking out various options, and exploring entire alternatives. Which is the underlying assumption in TAD : Design is not linear, it is cyclic and designing requires objective examination of a lot of values. In this 4 hour training session, you will get personal instructions from Sabu Francis, the developer of TAD itself. You will be able to understand how to use TAD to create a design, and explore various different concerns that you may have when designing. It will not cover extensive coding in ARDELA; the built in scripting language (that will be a different course) However you should get a basic idea of ARDELA to be reasonably productive in it. It will also not cover extended features such as exporting and use in other computer languages (again, this will be another course) This is useful for architects who run their own offices or are in some senior position in any architecture office. TAD is NOT a drafting software; so please do not expect to learn drafting features as there are almost none. However, TAD does export to DXF in several ways; which can then be used by draftspersons.
