Hi, I’m Elana.
I’ve been teaching Torah reading for over 20 years, and I’ve helped hundreds of students of all ages and learning styles learn to read from the Torah.
Over and over, I meet smart, capable adults who feel strangely powerless in synagogue — not because they aren’t committed or thoughtful, but because they were never given the chance to learn this skill.
I created this challenge to change that.
The Torah was not given to a small group of experts.
It was given to all of us. It was given to you.
In the next 18 days, I’ll guide you step by step so that you can move from listening… to actually reading.
This challenge is pay-what-you-want, because money should never be the thing that keeps someone on the sidelines.
We begin this Thursday.
If Torah reading has been sitting on your “someday” list, this is a real opportunity to finally begin.
For 18 days, you’ll receive short, clear daily guidance designed to build real Torah reading skills step by step.
You’ll get:
• brief daily practice prompts
• pre-recorded lessons you can do on your own time
• interactive materials to support your learning
• opportunities to submit recordings and get feedback
• two live Zoom sessions for learning, support, and questions
You don’t need any background, and you don’t need to be “musical.”
This is built for adults, with real lives and limited time.
Most people spend about 10–20 minutes a day.
Everything happens online. You can participate from anywhere.
By the end of the challenge, you will be able to:
• recognize and follow Torah trope
• prepare and chant a short Torah reading
• approach the Torah with confidence instead of hesitation
• understand how to continue learning after the challenge
But beyond the skills, many people experience something deeper:
A shift from standing on the sidelines…
to feeling that the Torah actually belongs to them.
