Recognizing the standard design: two heaps (max-heap for the lower half, min-heap for the upper half)

Maintaining strict invariants: size balance (difference ≤ 1) and ordering (all lower ≤ all upper)

Explaining how insertion, rebalancing, and median extraction work

Analyzing complexity per update

A strong solution clearly describes the two-heap invariant, shows how each new element is placed and balanced, and retrieves the median in constant time after logarithmic updates. The expected performance is O(log n) time per insertion with O(n) space overall, and interviewers look for clean invariants, correct balancing logic, and a confident explanation of why the median is always accessible at the heap tops

Compute the Median of Online Data
