Dr. Mahmoud Montasser is a consultant neonatologist at University Hospital Wishaw and a regional transport consultant for the ScotSTAR neonatal transport service in the West of Scotland, UK. He also holds an appointment as an honorary clinical senior lecturer at the University of Glasgow, contributing to clinical education and training.

He is the Chair of the BAPM NeoFOCUS-UK group, a Special Interest Group of the British Association of Perinatal Medicine focused on neonatal functional hemodynamics and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and leads national efforts to develop hemodynamic practice frameworks in neonatal care.

Dr. Montasser is recognized nationally as an expert in neonatal lung ultrasound and is both CACTUS-trained and a CACTUS instructor, with accreditation as a mentor for lung ultrasound training. He has lectured and taught at numerous national and international conferences and workshops.

His primary clinical interests and research focus include neonatal hemodynamic assessment during the postnatal transition in both term and preterm infants, cardiopulmonary interaction and vascular transition physiology, hemodynamic evaluation in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and the integration of lung ultrasound into cardiopulmonary POCUS for neonates.
