Day 1 – The Shape, Ear Training & Foundation

Day one is about clarity.

You’ll train your ear to hear key centers and understand exactly when the minor pentatonic works across different keys — using the main shape you already know.

We’ll get deeply familiar with the shape, learn how to resolve ideas, and strengthen the fundamentals that make soloing feel confident instead of random.

DAY 1 - THE FUNDAMENTALS

Day 2 is about control and expression.

We begin by building a strong rhythmic foundation — understanding the different rhythmic subdivisions you can play with and learning how to stay grounded in time. Because rhythm is what makes a scale sound like music.

From there, we move into phrasing.

You’ll learn how to create your own licks, how to learn and adapt existing ones, and how to build a cohesive solo that tells a story — not just a collection of notes.

We’ll work with repetition, space, variation, and embellishments. You’ll explore stylistic techniques like bends and slides, and learn how to add real expression to your playing.

This is where your solos begin to feel intentional.

DAY 2 - RHYTHM & PHRASING

Day 3 is about expanding your vision.

We move beyond the box and begin opening up the fretboard using octaves and linear playing. You’ll learn how to connect positions, move horizontally, and see the minor pentatonic as a musical landscape — not just a shape.

We’ll introduce melodic playing — focusing on phrasing that sings. You’ll also add colour by incorporating the 9th, giving the minor pentatonic more flavour and emotional depth.

Then we bring everything together.

Rhythm.
Phrasing.
Resolution.
Expression.

You’ll learn how to combine these tools to create more exciting, intentional solos that feel cohesive and alive.

This is just the beginning. Music is a lifelong journey, and we are always students of the craft. These tools are now part of your foundation — refine them, expand them, and continue pushing your boundaries.
