Indonesian A1 Proficiency Assessment

(CEFR-Aligned | Language Studies Indonesia)

Demonstrate Your Indonesian Proficiency.

You’ve completed the Survival Indonesian in 12 Days Challenge (or gained Indonesian skills through real-life use, study, or experience).

If you believe you already meet CEFR A1 (Beginner) proficiency standards, you may apply for an official Indonesian A1 Proficiency Assessment conducted by Language Studies Indonesia (LSI).

This is not a course.
This is a professional language assessment.

This A1 Proficiency Assessment evaluates your Indonesian language ability across all four core skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, in alignment with CEFR A1 standards.

Certification is not guaranteed.

An official A1 Certificate from Language Studies Indonesia will be awarded only if the participant demonstrates sufficient proficiency across all assessed skills during the assessment process.

Please note the following important points:

  • Reading and Writing are assessed independently through a timed online test.
  • Listening and Speaking are assessed live via Zoom with a certified LSI instructor.
  • The Listening and Speaking session will be recorded to allow for accurate post-assessment evaluation and internal quality assurance by the assessor after the session has concluded.
  • Recordings are used strictly for assessment and academic review purposes in accordance with LSI’s internal standards and confidentiality policies.

Some participants may demonstrate strength in certain skills but may still not meet the required A1 proficiency level across all four skills. In such cases, a certificate will not be issued.

Instructions

The A1 Proficiency Assessment evaluates your ability to use Indonesian at CEFR A1 (Beginner) level across all four core language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

This ensures a balanced, fair, and internationally aligned evaluation of your real language ability.

Assessment Flow (Important)

  1. Reading & Writing assessments are completed independently using a timed online test
  2. After successful submission, a live Zoom session will be scheduled
  3. Listening & Speaking assessments are conducted with a certified LSI instructor
  4. Final results are evaluated holistically across all four skills

Reading (Independent, Timed)

You will complete a timed reading assessment designed to evaluate your ability to:

  • understand familiar words, names, and basic phrases
  • comprehend short, simple texts related to everyday situations
  • identify key information in notices, instructions, or short messages

Writing (Independent, Timed)

You will complete a timed writing assessment to demonstrate your ability to:

  • write simple words and sentences
  • provide basic personal information
  • respond to short prompts related to daily life
  • produce simple, meaningful written communication at A1 level

Listening (Live via Zoom)

The listening component is conducted live via Zoom with a certified LSI instructor and evaluates your ability to:

  • understand simple spoken Indonesian when spoken slowly and clearly
  • follow basic questions and instructions
  • respond appropriately to everyday spoken situations

Speaking (Live via Zoom)

The speaking assessment is also conducted live via Zoom and focuses on your ability to:

  • use appropriate greetings and leave-takings
  • introduce yourself and give basic personal information
  • talk about simple daily activities
  • handle common situations such as ordering food, shopping, or asking for directions
  • communicate using simple sentences clearly and meaningfully

Why This Matters

The four-skill structure ensures that:

  • certification is earned, not assumed
  • assessment results are academically sound and CEFR-aligned
  • learners are evaluated on real communicative ability, not memorisation (speaking and listening session will be recorded via Zoom)
