This course is designed to help you understand how V-Ray lighting actually works, not just how to copy settings.Instead of jumping straight into presets and random values, we start with the fundamentals—how light behaves, how V-Ray interprets it, and how you can control it with intention. You’ll learn the logic behind direct and indirect light, shadow formation, light size, distance, intensity, and real-world units.Through simple scenes and clear demonstrations, the course breaks down complex lighting concepts into practical, repeatable techniques. You’ll see exactly why renders fail, where common lighting mistakes come from, and how to fix them using correct V-Ray workflows.By the end of the course, lighting will no longer feel like trial and error. You’ll be able to place lights with purpose, adjust settings with confidence, and achieve clean, realistic results consistently.

Welcome to the first session of the V-Ray Light course.
In this session, we’ll focus on how V-Ray Light works—its behaviour, its logic, and how it produces light in a scene.

Along with that, I’ll explain the theory of direct and indirect light—not as settings, but as concepts—so you understand what V-Ray is actually calculating in the background.

Once this foundation is clear, lighting stops being guesswork and starts becoming intentional.

Let’s begin by understanding how V-Ray handles light.

01_How VrayLight Works

In this session, you’ll learn how to use V-Ray Sun properly to create realistic daylight in your scenes.

Many beginners struggle with sunlight—renders look too bright, too flat, or completely unrealistic. In this session, you’ll understand how sunlight actually works in V-Ray, how to control shadows, and how the direction of the sun changes the entire mood of a scene.

You’ll see how small changes in sun position and size can create big visual differences, and why you should never rely on random intensity adjustments or fake lights.

By the end of this class, you’ll feel confident using V-Ray Sun to create clean, natural, and believable daylight that looks professional and realistic.

02_VraySun & Camera

In this session, you’ll learn how to use HDRI maps with V-Ray Dome Light to create realistic, natural lighting for your scenes.

We’ll explore how HDRI environments influence reflections, shadows, and overall mood. You’ll understand why a simple white dome light produces flat results and how replacing it with a high-quality HDRI instantly adds depth, realism, and atmosphere.

You’ll also learn how to rotate HDRI maps to control light direction, adjust exposure for proper brightness, and compare different HDRI environments to see how dramatically they change the feeling of a render.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to light an entire scene using HDRI alone—confidently, cleanly, and professionally.

03_Dome & HDRI

In this session, you’ll learn how to build a professional studio lighting setup using V-Ray Plane Lights.

We’ll create a structured three-light system—primary, secondary, and fill—and understand how each light contributes to shape, depth, and realism. You’ll see how to control highlights, manage shadows, and balance exposure like a product visualization artist.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to light any object in a controlled studio environment with confidence and precision.
