The relationship between academic self-regulation, perfectionism and psychopathology in students from normal and express streams.

[Abstract] The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationships between academic self-regulation, perfectionism and psychopathology in Singapore students, from the academic streams of Normal and Express. It was expected that Express course students would be more perfectionistic than Normal course students. It was also expected that Express course students would be more depressed than Normal course students. Academic self-regulation was hypothesized to attenuate relationships between perfectionism and psychopathology and perfectionism and self-esteem. Surveys like Depression, Anxiety and Suicidal Scale, Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, Multidimensional Scale of Self-Regulation and Perfectionism Scale were used to measure the variables in the study. The results revealed that there were no significant differences in all measure between Normal and Express stream students.
