As an experienced designer and lecturer, I'm constantly asked by peers and students how I stay on top of the latest design tools and trends. In this session, we explore how oversized, cropped typography can instantly transform a simple layout into a powerful visual statement. You’ll learn how to use large letterforms as design elements — balancing scale, contrast, and composition to create depth and rhythm within your poster. We’ll break down how to: Crop and position type for maximum visual impact. Use negative space and alignment to guide the viewer’s eye. Treat letters as shapes and textures, not just readable text. Blend typography seamlessly with imagery or color for a cohesive design. By the end of this session, you’ll be able to turn basic text into abstract art, giving your posters a bold, contemporary aesthetic that captures attention instantly.
